A laser on a wobbly tripod is a laser that lies. Flat-head for rotating lasers and auto levels, dome or quick-release if that is what the instrument wants. Aluminium for the ute, heavier if the site is windy.
How to choose
- Rotating lasers and dumpies: flat-head aluminium, 1.6–1.8 m.
- Fit-out line lasers: a lighter elevator or the wall mount that came in the case.
- Do not cheap out on the head. That is where the instrument actually sits.
