DISTO D2 vs D2G
D2 if you measure rooms, corridors and variations inside. D2G if the dot has to show up on steel or a bright elevation. Same pocket, same tilt sensor, same Bluetooth. Do not buy both unless two people measure at once.
The only difference that matters
Colour, and a bit of range. D2 is red, 150 m. D2G is green, 120 m. Green is easier to see in sun and on steel. Red is cheaper and reaches further in a plastered tenancy at 7 pm. The tilt sensor, the Bluetooth, the NFC — same idea on both.
What a DISTO is not
It is not a rotating laser. It will not run a slab. It will not set sewer grade. If the job is a pad, you want a Rugby or a TUF 208 and a staff. If the job is ‘how long is this hallway’, a DISTO is the tape you actually use.
Bluetooth — skip it or don’t
Only useful if someone in the office wants the number in a drawing without you reading it over the phone. If you just need a figure on the screen, ignore the spec sheet and buy the cheaper colour that you can see.

- No. A DISTO is a number. A Lino is a plane on the wall. Fit-out crews usually carry both.
- Pouch?
- Yes. A DISTO that lives loose in a nail bag is a DISTO you will replace.
